This week’s mantra is inspired again by In Other Words (In Altre Parole) by Jhumpa Lahiri. I highlighted so many sections that you may be hearing about this book for awhile, ha. Hopefully, you will get a chance to read it before I provide you with the entire book. I reread the sentence below over and over again. It has definitely had me thinking a lot about the lack of time we take to understand ourselves.
“My sole intention, along with a blind but sincere faith, is to be understood, and to understand myself.”
We often rush through our days without taking enough time to understand our actions, reactions, emotions….We are often running on auto-pilot and moving from one task to the next. But, what if we took a few moments from our day to check in on ourselves? What if we took a few moments to try to better understand ourselves? So, this week’s mantra comes with a bit of a homework assignment. Take a few moments each day to ask yourself the questions you would ask a friend or family member when checking in on them. Use this week’s mantra to guide you.
I will work harder to understand myself.
I will work harder to understand myself.
I will work harder to understand myself.
I hope this mantra resonates with you and will help guide you throughout your week.
