Mantra No One Can Hurt My Spirit
 
Hey everyone!
Mantras are back!! I cannot even remember how long I have been posting mantras, but I know it has been quite a few years. So, every once in awhile, it is nice to get really old school and simply write about what I have been up to. I hope you found the last few weeks a nice change and I hope to continue to switch it up again soon. If I do, is there something you want to hear about in the yoga and/or travel world? If so, let me know. I love getting ideas from others.
But, for now, let’s get to this week…Today’s mantra has been once again inspired by the truly magnificent Oprah. After I got back from Vieques, I had a ton of podcasts to catch up on. Did I tell you that I even stopped listening to podcasts there? Yup, I tried my best to stay completely disconnected. But, when I got back, Oprah was number one on my running playlist. During an episode with Sara Ben Breathnach about her book Something More: Excavating Your Authentic Self, they discuss that knowing yourself is the key to joy. That discussion alone was inspiring, but then Oprah chimes in and explains that we need to understand that, “No One Can Hurt Our Spirit.” As I continued to run, those words kept resonating with me and I could not stop repeating them.
During such a hostile time, where people’s comments and opinions are flowing rapidly and are often negative and hurtful, we need to remind ourselves that no one can hurt our spirits. Our spirits are ours! We need to take ownership of how we feel and let others behave the way they want. We are in control of ourselves and we will not let others beat or break us down. So, stay strong this week and use today’s mantra to guide you.
