I have gone through phases of making serious restrictions on social media because I personally think it can be a waste of time if you do not pay attention carefully on how and when you are using it. I have even banned it for myself when traveling and during specific times of the day. I still do not use it in the evening! But, I know there are some amazing connections, relationships and outcomes that emerge from social media. I have lots of my own stories. On the flip side, I know all that time in front of the computer and phone can be a life suck for so many reasons.
Besides the obvious physical reasons, there are an abundant of mental reasons to simply turn off the social media. I mentioned before that I am not a huge fan of the holiday season and I think social media has made it even worse. We all know how bad it hurts not to be invited to “that” party or gathering no matter how busy we are. We all get to see how “perfect” everyone else’s decorations are hung. Oh and then we get to see all the “amazing” gifts everyone received. Ugh!! It is exhausting!!! But, the truth is, it is perception and it is what people want to post. We don’t typically see the burnt dinner, the ugly tree or the gifts that get returned. We don’t see the gatherings where everything went wrong.
So, this week and through the rest of the holidays, remind yourself that you are more than good enough and that you are amazing even if you do not have the perfect post for instagram or facebook. And, try your best to limit your social media time no matter how tempting it is to see how perfectly everyone else’s holidays are going.
This week’s mantra:
I am more than good enough.
I am more than good enough.
I am more than good enough.
Love and Light!
