Welcome Home

Welcome Home image
“Welcome Home,” Pradeep said, as we held downdog. What was he talking about? Where was home? How could this be home if we were thousands of miles away from where we live? I wonder what the monthly rent for a jungle bungalow would be?
I have never been to Xinalani; I have never done yoga in a jungle studio overlooking the ocean and I have never met Pradeep Teotia, but something about this combination felt perfect and felt like home.
My overall sense of calmness made me ponder these questions for hours after the class. Welcome Home, Welcome Home, Welcome Home! Every time he said it I felt more comfortable in my poses, with my surroundings and with who I am.
So where is your home? As someone who travels a lot, I have learned that my home is nothing that can be externally identified, but rather it is a state of calmness within that goes with me everywhere. Yoga often helps me tap into that home and helps me find myself when I get lost or move off my path.
After spending a week at Xinalani, I felt more at home than ever because nothing was stopping me from being me. Yoga classes filled the schedule and props were permitted to be used throughout the resort, clean eating food options were the only menu options (see recipes below), and sun, sand and ocean surrounded me. I truly felt at home.
I was very fortunate to visit Xinalani and meet Pradeep and his amazing students who welcomed me into their crew. Sometimes we need a little guidance, a little ambiance and a little yoga to help us look inside. Take some time this summer to do a little internal exploration. Sit on your mat, close your eyes and hear these words, “Welcome Home.” And, if you are fortunate enough, pack your bags and head to Xinalani.
I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells, I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Integrity, of Wisdom and of Peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One.
Namaste.

I truly loved all of the food at Xinalani. Here are a few of their amazing clean eating recipes.

A little bit of pineapple, cucumber and a pinch of salt. Mix them in a blender, similar to making a smoothie. So simple, so amazing!
Basil Garlic Dressing

-Salt to taste
Directions:
Chop the garlic and the basil really tiny and mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
