More About Colombia!

Colombia is a beautiful and diverse country the size of Texas and California combined. With two coastlines, the Andes Mountain range and the Amazon River basin there is no lack of places to see and things to do.

Colombia is a real up and coming destination. It has the fastest growing and most stable economy in South America. The government has been investing heavily in infrastructure, and the kidnappings and drug cartels of the 80’s and 90’s are ancient history. When visiting Colombia you can feel the energy and excitement. People are happy, education is accessible and opportunity abounds. In the cities there is electricity in the air. That’s not to say that everything is perfect, but it certainly seems to be headed in the right direction. Tourism is on the rise and now is the time to discover the real Colombia.

Our trips are very laid back and friendly, perfect for the first time traveler or the seasoned independent minded explorer. You get the security, peace of mind and camaraderie of traveling with a group and knowing that all the details have been taken care of, but you also get the flexibility of going off and doing your own thing. Our hotel becomes a home base for exploring the countryside and a meeting place to catch up and compare notes with your new found traveling friends.

Mi Compadres:

Meet Your Organizer and Planner:

Larry Porter is owner and operator of Porterra Travel. So far, he has traveled to over 28 countries on 5 continents. He has backpacked solo through Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece, sailed the British Virgin Islands living on a sailboat, hiked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain as well as stayed in five star hotels in major metropolitan cities enjoying all they have to offer. He has been to more castles, cathedrals and world class museums than he can recall. He has heard symphonies performed in the great opera houses of Europe and swam in mountain waterfalls in the Andes.

Travel is his passion and he would love to share it with you. As much as he loves exploring new places and cultures, trying new cuisines and especially the local beer, wine and liqueurs… nothing excites him more than sharing these places with others. Larry explains, “There’s nothing like walking down some winding cobblestone alleyway in another country, wandering into a little cafe… and running into someone you know from our trip! Pull up a chair, share a bottle of wine and compare notes on what you’ve seen and done. As enjoyable as traveling is, sharing the experience with others makes it even better.”

He has been organizing group trips for over 15 years now and has been on every one of them! The first one was a Porters’ Pub trip to Ireland with mostly staff and close personal friends. They had so much fun they started doing them every year. Their trip offerings have multiplied and grown over the years simply by word of mouth and through his restaurants… Porters’ Pub & Restaurant and Black & Blue in Easton, PA. If you have any questions regarding this trip or any of his other’s, feel free to send him an email anytime.

Meet Your Lovely Tour Guide:

Manuel Fresnada has been living in Easton for over 22 years; however, his home away from home and his native country is Colombia. Although he loves to travel, he also loves his hometown of Easton, PA, where he owns and operates Terra Cafe and Tierra de Fuego. Manuel is a free spirit and a lover of life who wants to show everyone the beauty of his home-country. His energy is radiant and he will make your adventure to Colombia better than you could ever imagine. As a Spanish speaking Colombian native, he will educate you on the areas that we will explore as well as continue to make you laugh and smile. Stop by and visit him at Terra Caffe or Tierra de Fuego and you will want to travel with him everywhere.
